Adam Maurer is our resident positive psychology practitioner having been trained by the father of the field, Dr. Martin Seligman. Adam has also conducted research on grit, optimism and positive affect as positive predictors of employee performance and tenure under the supervision of MacArthur Fellow, Dr. Angela Duckworth.
Adam started his career during the ecommerce boom in the late 90s and continued to lead human resources and talent initiatives for multinational corporations and financial services firms during ten years working in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Adam returned to the United States in 2009; at which time he began to apply what he learned from the for-profit sector to advance HR, recruitment, selection and employment engagement practices for schools, nonprofits and social enterprises.
Adam served as head of talent for National Heritage Academies and as the Chief Talent Officer for Citizen Schools. He has also led employee engagement and recruitment projects for KIPP, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Grant Thornton. He and his team were awarded an Oracle Innovation Award in 2011.
Adam holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and is certified as a senior human resources professional by both the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Human Resources Certification Institute.
Adam serves as the CEO of Positively Partners and is one of the organization’s founding members. He lives in Boston with his husband David, and their two chocolate labradors Bentley and Tesla.
