Jill Smerkers

Jill is a nationally recognized expert in compensation and total rewards strategies for mission-driven organizations. As a founding member and Senior Vice President at Positively Partners, she leads the organization’s professional services portfolio, including compensation and benefits consulting, talent and recruitment services, and organizational development. Jill partners directly with organizational leaders and boards to design and implement compensation philosophies, pay equity strategies, salary band frameworks, and performance-based reward systems that support both compliance and culture.

Her experience leading HR at Citizen Schools informs her pragmatic, inclusive approach to organizational development and design, which is grounded in data, designed for transparency, and oriented toward employee engagement and retention. In addition to her expertise in total rewards, Jill brings deep experience in performance management, workforce development, and manager training, ensuring compensation practices are integrated with the systems that support people to thrive.

Jill holds degrees from Providence College and Brown University and is certified by both SHRM and HRCI.  She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband Pat, their children Joey and Annie, and their boxer Emma.
