Challenge

Leading Edge wanted to establish a transparent and equitable compensation policy that ensured their salaries were fair, consistent, and aligned with both the organization’s values and external market standards.

Solution

We collaborated with Leading Edge to design and implement a comprehensive compensation structure and philosophy. Our goal was to develop a system that not only determined fair and competitive salaries but also communicated how compensation decisions were made, fostering trust and transparency within the organization.

Implementation

We started by conducting a benchmarking study to compare Leading Edge’s compensation with industry standards and similar organizations in the nonprofit sector. We also gathered compensation data from Leading Edge, including current salary ranges, roles, responsibilities, and market rates.

Based on the benchmarking study’s results, we categorized roles into defined bands or levels, each with specific salary ranges. These ranges were established by analyzing job roles, experience, skill levels, and market competitiveness.

Then, we worked with Leading Edge to introduce a compensation framework centered around these salary bands that aligned with their values and culture.

Results

The clear and transparent pay structure boosted employee morale and trust, as staff felt confident their compensation was fair and aligned with the organization’s values. By creating a system focused on transparency and accountability, Leading Edge strengthened its internal culture and reinforced its commitment to equity.
